From the Slum to the Hospital Ward

"I grew up in Mathare with no hope and no future. My mother could not afford school fees. When Blessed Assurance gave me a scholarship, it was like God opened a door I never knew existed."

Grace Amara was 12 years old when she received her first scholarship from Blessed Assurance. Today, she is a registered nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital, serving the same community she grew up in.

"Every time I treat a patient, I remember the love that was shown to me. I am living proof that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Blessed Assurance didn't just pay my school fees — they showed me who I am in Christ."

When the medical team came to our village, I had not seen a doctor in ten years. They treated my diabetes and prayed with me. For the first time in years, I felt hope. I am healed — body and soul.

I was an orphan with no family and no future. The children's home gave me a bed, food, education, and most importantly — a family that loves me. I now know what it feels like to belong.

I could not read or write until I was 45 years old. The adult literacy programme taught me to read the Bible for myself. Now I read God's Word every morning. It has changed my life completely.

I was a volunteer medical doctor for one camp. That one weekend changed my life. I resigned from my private practice and now work full-time with Blessed Assurance. I have never been more fulfilled.

My daughter was sick for months and we could not afford treatment. The medical camp team diagnosed her, treated her, and followed up three times. She is now a healthy, happy girl. God is good!
